I am a 62 year old, 5 index player that’s always been a Footjoy customer. It’s winter here in Canada, and my indoor golf coach had these Phorm1 shoes on display. He told me that a few players ( size 9) had tried them and were able to get 3 to 4 mph higher swing speed in these shoes.. yeah right I thought.
However, I ordered a size 12 and within a week they were delivered. Unfortunately, they were too tight..I normally take a US size 12, but i believe the Phorm1 is made a bit small. I reordered a 13 and they fit amazing.. now I can’t speak to comfort over 4 hours as it’s winter here, but they sure feel solid indoors swinging a club.
I have an indoor SIM in my house ( Trackman), so I wanted to see for myself if the “ increased swing speed” from shoes is legit or not. Short answer… YES…
I took 10 swings with my driver in running shoes.. I averaged about 97.5 mph… then I put on my Footjoys and my swing speed increased to 99.6 mph on average. As I carry the ball about 245 yards, that makes sense at an approx 100 mph swing speed.
Next i slipped on my size 13 Phantoms.. brand new and felt very secure… 10 swings later my average driver speed was 103.1… so just swapping my Footjoys to Phantoms had over a 3 mph swing speed increase… I’m no longer skeptical!!
Can’t wait to put these on in April once i can get outdoors again.
Two wishes: Phantom come in different colours ( black please), and make them a tad larger so they match North American sizing better.. I had to go to a size 13 in Phantom versus 12 normally.
I’ve tried so many shoe brands and FJ were the only ones I felt were reasonably comfortable. I bought these because of Gabe. Listening to his podcast and watching his videos along with how immensely detail oriented he was about his shoes I figured I would try them. 4 rounds in 4 days on a trip to Phoenix and these shoes are without a doubt the best I’ve used. My back pain ( from sloppy posture) was nonexistent. My knee and foot pain were far less after 4 rounds in 4 days than what it was previously without the Phorm1 shoes after 1 round. These shoes have far exceeded my expectations for comfort and traction!
Be cool if they make ballmarkers and divot tools with their spartan helmet logo.
These shoes are the best golf shoes I have ever owned. Not only do they look amazing, the design provides stability like no other shoe !! I look forward to more colours in the future !

I never thought that nasty muddy and wet conditions would end up not being a problem on the golf course. Ever since switching to the Phorm 1’s, stability in the swing feels natural rather than a forced swing thought. I also can’t believe my ball and club head speed has increased on top of this. As a data driven mind, it’s a no brainer to choose equipment that actually improves your performance, and these golf shoes do just that.
